Abstract A recent metaanalysis has compared transthoracic sonography for detection of pulmonary embolism with MSCT: sensitivity: 74 – 83 % for CT versus 80 % for TUS. Given the equal value of chest ultrasonography and CT some points for daily practice are discussed (time factor, availabitlity, resolution).
