From preliminary data we had evidence that sera from patients with cholestatic liver diseases react with an antigen fraction prepared from chicken liver containing sulfite oxidase (SO). In order to analyze this reactivity in more detail, we produced human recombinant SO, and it will be shown, that anti-SO antibodies are confined to primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
