Objective: Septic shock is a severe complication in obstetrics, with an incidence of 1/8000 deliveries and a maternal mortality of around 20%. Initial clinical signs and symptoms may be unspecific during pregnancy. Frequently, treatment has to be started without knowing specific laboratory tests or the source of infection.
