Abstract Drugs and micronutrients use the same transport and metabolic pathways in the organism for absorption, metabolization, and elimination. If one or more drugs are taken, there always exists the potential risk of interactions with the micronutrient balance. Therefore, the effect of a drug as well as the physiological function of a vitamin or mineral substance can be impaired.
