HYDROPNEUMOTHORAX-ULTRASOUND DIAGNOSTICS

Purpose: Purpose: To show the usefulness ultrasound examination of the rib cage for diagnosis of hydropneumothorax. Methods and Materials: Methods and Materials: Over a period of 18 months, fourteen patients in the pulmonary ward had hydropneumotorax as a complication of their basic disease. The diagnostic procedures included ultrasound examination on Aloka SSD 2000 device using a convex 3,5MHz probe, the heart and lung x-ray imaging and also PTH pleural effusion.
