Introduction: the evolution of acute pancreatitis (AP), frequently an unpredictable disease, is determined by the possibility of appearance of complications. The aim of this study was to assess if transabdominal ultrasound is a useful method for the follow up of patients with AP. Materials and methods: we have studied 100 patients with AP admitted in our department between 04.2006–03.2007. For all these cases we have followed: demographical aspects, aetiology of pancreatitis, severity and ultrasound aspect dynamically.
