Breast unit – the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana

The Institute of Oncology Ljubljana (IO) was founded in 1938, and at that time, it was one of the few comprehensive cancer centers in the world. It gradually grew and developed into a major cancer center in Slovenia, maintaining its role of a functional comprehensive cancer center. The fundamental concept includes clinical and basic research, education (linked to the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana) and the implementation of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
