Gastric stasis and transit disorder caused by a Bochdalek hernia – an interesting anatomical situation

Bochdalek hernia is a congenital defect of the diaphragm. Predominantly diagnosed and repaired in children, but frequently occurs in adults. Asymptomatic incidental Bochdalek hernias in adults usually diagnosed on routine X-ray examinations. The complaints of the hernia in adults usually caused by the hernialisation of an abdominal organ and diagnosed during urgent surgery. The hernias of the diaphramg can be managed by open surgery, laparosopcy or thoracoscopy depending on the position of the hernia and on the complications.
