Background: Gene expression analysis of colon biopsies can contribute to the classification of colorectal diseases. Because most of the colorectal carcinomas (CRC) develop from villous adenomas, we investigated the gene expression aspects of adenoma-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence. Methods: Total RNA was extracted, amplified and biotinylated from colonic biopsies of 15 patients with CRC, 15 with villous adenoma and 8 normal controls.
