Multi-scale imaging provides information on various orders of magnitudes enabling data mining on the molecular, cellular and whole-body levels within the same experiment. Multi-scale imaging is technologically highly challenging and relies on several imaging modalities including radionuclide, optical, magnetic resonance, X-ray and ultrasound imaging and combinations thereof (multi-modal imaging) in either a sequential manner or by co-registration.
