Zusammenfassung
Summary We report on our project “recovery companions in psychiatry”. Within the framework of a recovery orientated restructuring of the Psychiatric Department at Klinikum Bremerhaven we have included peers as permanent employees in our teams since 2010. They support the nursing professionals. The feedback of our patients and of many staff members was so affirmative that currently seven recovery companions work in our department. They have contributed to the positive change of the ward atmosphere and have become a natural part of our everyday work.
