Summary The patient's demand for prosthetic dental care and his decision for the form of treatment is not only determined by dental and medical aspects but is also influenced by socio-economic factors. Research in the field of dental treatment provision has to reveal whether there are inequalities in dental treatment care and it has to explore the potential reasons and effects.
