Introduction: Aim of the current study is to investigate the value of methylene blue aided cholangioscopy for the early diagnosis of strictures in the biliary duct of unknown etiology. Although the majority of benign and malignant biliary strictures may have characteristic cholangiographic features, these features are not specific enough for management decisions. Only direct endoscopic visualization of the bile duct with cholangioscopy enables us to diagnose those filling defects precisely.
