Background/Objectives: There are no suitable standardised measures to assess the multidimensional construct „empowerment“ in psychiatric treatment. Methods: In a first step, a set of 88 5-point questions where presented to 445 patients with affective disorder (ICD-10 F30-F39) or schizophrenia (ICD-10 F20-F29). This study is aimed to empirically investigate and determine the dimensionality and the psychometric properties of the instrument and to select items which will then be employed in a second field study.
