Purpose: Access the role of Shear-Wave Elastography (SWE) in the detection and characterization of focal lesions of the prostate. Material and methods: We prospectively examine 80 consecutive patients in 6-months period with TRUS+SWE+TRUS guided biopsies. The median patient age was 67 years (range 50 – 85 years), the median serum PSA level was 8.5 ng/ml (range 1.9 – 47 ng/ml) and the median prostate volume was 48 ml (range 25 – 110 ml).
