Purpose: To evaluate the application of shear wave elastography for the examination of the parotid and submandibular glands and its reliability to generate standard reference values for shear wave velocity (SWV) in healthy subjects. Material and methods: Pilot study of 25 individuals with no history of salivary gland disease. Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) technology was used to measure the SWV of both parotid and submandibular gland tissue.
