The value of delayed onsite cytology by a Gastroenterologist

Purpose: Onsite cytology requests a pathologist in the endoscopy suite. The purpose of this study is to evaluate if a gastroenterologist is able to get first reliable cytological results with a minimum of training. Patients and methods: From September 2008 to May 2011 157 endosonographic fine needle punctures with a 22 G needle where performed in a municipal hospital.
