Abstract Abstract Background: Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is a rare disease with low morbidity and mortality. Antithrombotic treatment with heparin is the first-line therapy. Only in a few cases the disease progresses in spite of heparin treatment so that further therapy options, such as the local thrombolysis, mechanical thrombectomy or decompressive surgery are considered.
