ME3738 is a new drug designed to treat patients with chronic liver diseases. A phase I trial was successfully performed in Japan. In earlier experiments we used the ConA model to study the mechanisms that confer ME3738-dependent protection. The ME3738-dependent effect is mediated via IL6. In this study we were interested to define the cell type involved in protection. We used tissue specific gp130 knockout animals.
