Rate of Helicobacter pylori in closed community of children

The rate of Helicobacter pylori infection in closed communities has not been investigated so far in Hungary. The aim of the study was to investigate the Helicobacter pylori infection rate at a boarding school. Patients and method: 39 boarders (aged from 10–20 years, mean age: 14.7 years) and 16 educators (mean age: 43.5 years) were screened for Helicobacter pylori with C13 urea breath test. Results: 22 of 39 boarders and 8 of 16 educators proved to be Helicobacter pylori positive. One boy was infected with bacterium during the observation period.
