Zusammenfassung

Background and Aim: Interaction of dendritic cells (DCs) with viral particles may play an important role in the immunopathogenesis of HCV infection. Since the large-scale synthesis of infectious virions is limited, we have used insect-cell derived HCV-like particles (HCV-LPs) to study the interaction of HCV with DCs. Human monocyte-derived DCs efficiently internalize and cross-present HCV-LPs to HCV-specific CD8+ T cells demonstrating that HCV-LP-DC interaction represents an excellent model system to define the molecular mechanisms of HCV uptake and antigen presentation (Barth et al. 2005, Blood 105: 3605–14).
