Zusammenfassung

Background; Although there is evidence from observational studies that exposure to intra-uterine infection with Ureaplasma spp. is linked to an increased risk of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in preterm infants, results remain controversial. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the relation between BPD and Ureaplasma spp. detected by PCR diagnostics and culture-based techniques in amniotic cavity specimens at the time of cesarean section in a large cohort of preterm infants
