Zusammenfassung

Objective: To investigate early first trimester human systolic and diastolic heart function in low risk pregnancies. Methods: Transvaginal Doppler ultrasonography was performed in 380 uncomplicated pregnancies between 5 and 10 gestational weeks. The principle of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) was applied to the use of Doppler for research in first trimester pregnancy. Heart rate, specyfic proportion of the cardiac cycle of isovolumetric relaxation (IRT%) and contraction time (ICT%) as well as Tei index, shape of the inflow waveform and outflow mean velocity (Vmean) and PR intervals were calculated.
