Zusammenfassung

Mental disorders in old-age are common. This holds especially true for cognitive and affective disorders. With the demographic change the number of persons affected is expected to increase dramatically. Contrarily, the working-age population will considerably decrease. Thus, the financial and emotional burden placed on the working-age population will markedly rise. These developments will challenge European health and social systems.
