Gastric emptying in Gastroparesis and Functional Dyspepsia measured by Ultrasound

Purpose: To assess if patients with Functional Dyspepsia (FD) differ from patients with Gastroparesis (GP) in a cohort referred to the Ultrasound Meal Accommodation test (UMAT), a clinical diagnostic test designed to evaluate gastric accommodation, emptying and visceral hypersensitivity. Material and methods: 509 patients referred to the UMAT in a tertiary hospital in Bergen, Norway were included in a study. 160 patients had FD, and 27 had gastroparesis, of which 15 had diabetes type 1 or 2.
