Zusammenfassung

Abstract Telemedicine plays a central role in the acute medical care of patients in Switzerland. The Medgate Telemedicine Center has approximately 100 physicians, and for many patients has a function similar to that of a general practice as their first point of contact for medical concerns. Over 900 000 patients received telemedicine care in 2016. Patients can be treated entirely at a distance in about half of all cases.
