Purpose: To present typical imaging features of mucocele of the appendix. Methods and Materials: A 53-year-old man was admitted to the hospital suffering from abdominal pain and swelling in the right lower quadrant. Ultrasonography (US) and multidetector computerized tomography (MDCT) examinations were performed. Results: US examination revealed an oval shaped, 10×5cm cystic mass at the paracecal area. Also, concentric echogenic layers (“onion skin appearance“) within the cystic mass, which is characteristic for appendiceal mucocele, were detected.
