Introduction: Post-mortem studies of patients with Parkinson's disease with dementia (PDD) and Lewy body dementia (DLB) have identified cortical Lewy bodies and Alzheimer-type pathology; however, the associated metabolic changes are not well characterized. Methods: We therefore compared 18F-FDG-PET in groups of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), PDD, DLB, Alzheimer's disease (AD) with matched controls to elucidate metabolic correlates of dementia, delusional misidentifications and visual hallucinations in these disorders by voxel-wise statistical comparisons in SPM 2.
