Zusammenfassung
Leukocyte recruitment occurs in the microcirculation and describes the ability of leukocytes to leave the intravascular compartment and transmigrate into tissue. Leukocyte recruitment follows a cascade of events, which is well-defined in adult organisms. However, little is known about the recruitment of leukocytes in fetal tissue. Recently, a novel model of intravital microscopy was developed in the fetal mouse enabling the observation of interactions between blood circulating cells and the endothelial lining in different fetal tissues and the yolk sac (YS).
