Zusammenfassung

Liver fibrosis caused by chronic alcohol intoxication is to a great extent regulated by action of the pro-fibrogenic cytokine TGF-β. We studied the direct effects of ethanol or acetaldehyde on TGF-β signaling in isolated mouse hepatocytes. Aims: To study the TGF-β1 pathway in isolated liver cells with special impact on the regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis and interference with signaling by Ski and SnoN. Methods: Tunnel assay, analysis of Caspase activity, Propidium iodide and Annexin-V staining to analyze the apoptotic response of hepatocytes or Hep1.6 and other liver cell lines to ethanol or acetalde…
