Introduction: Accurate nonoperative diagnosis of malignant biliary obstruction is often difficult. Hitherto, no established method exists at endoscopic cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to reach the cancer tissue with the forceps. We developed a new method of forceps biopsying of bile duct stenoses and compared the data with brush cytology. Material and Methods: Nine patients who underwent ERCP because of common duct stenosis were prospectively included into the study.
