Next year our Institute will celebrate its 85 anniversary. History of development of oncogynecology in our country and foundation of the Oncogynecology Department is tightly connected with history of the N.N. Petrov Research Institute of Oncology. Necessity of the initiation of specialized scientific/practical institution has appeared at the beginning of the last century. As a result on the 15th of March 1927 in Leningrad within the frames of the multidisciplinary hospital named after I.I. Mechnikov our Institute was settled. Professor N.N.
