The role of Suppressor of Fused in the regulation of Hedgehog and Wnt/ß-Catenin signaling pathway in adult liver

Aims: Sufu is one of the most important regulatory elements that can negatively influence the Hedgehog signaling pathway, witch plays a critical role in cell differentiation and development of the liver. In the absence of Hedgehog signals, Sufu forms an inhibition complex with Fu and Cos2, causing a proteolytic cleavage of the transcription factors Gli2 and Gli3 into their repressor forms and so inhibiting the expression of the target genes(1).
