Background: There is a lack of data on the supply status of the German population with vitamin B12, an essential vitamin only present in animal food products. Therefore, we set out to elucidate the vitamin B12 supply status by use of its biologically active form, holo-Transcobalamin (holo-TC), in a population-based sample from Northern Germany (n=873, female share 43.5%, median age 62.1 [54.3; 70.9] years).
