Aging is associated with physiological decline in multiple organ systems and a state of chronic low-grade inflammation, while the supply status of anti-inflammatory micronutrients such as long-chain omega-3 fatty acids (n3 FA), vitamin D, folate and cobalamin is often low in older people.
