Background Patients with malnutrition at hospital discharge have an increased long-term risk for mortality and adverse clinical outcomes. We investigated the effects of outpatient nutritional support provided after hospital discharge on clinical outcomes of malnourished or nutritionally at-risk medical patients in a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.
