Summary: Obesity is associated with insulin resistance, β-cell hyperplasia and hyperinsulinemia. Adipocytes secrete Wnt-signaling molecules. Wnts regulate cell-cycle progression and insulin secetion. However, it has not been investigated whether adipocytes regulate β-cell proliferation and insulin secretion through the Wnt-signaling pathway. Therefore, we investigated the effect of adipocyte-secretory products on Wnt-signaling in β-cells.
