Summary: Obesity is associated with insulin resistance, β-cell hyperplasia and hyperinsulinemia. Adipocytes secrete Wnt-signaling molecules. Wnts regulate cell-cycle progression and insulin secetion. However, it has not been investigated whether adipocytes regulate β-cell proliferation and insulin secretion through the Wnt-signaling pathway.
