Introduction: Sarcopenia is common in community dwelling or hospitalised older populations, but the impact of sarcopenia on mortality in old patients with cancer has rarely been studied. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of sarcopenia and its impact on 1-year mortality in this cohort. Methods: 317 patients were consecutively recruited. Skeletal muscle mass was estimated using bioelectric impedance analysis and related to height2 (SMI) according to the equation by Janssen et al.
