Introduction: Several studies are suggesting significant nutritional deficiencies in patients with pressure ulcers. However, available data basis is yet inconclusive. Patients and Methods: A prevalence study investigating the prevalence of pressure ulcers was conducted in a tertiary care hospital: 842 patients (resembling 81.7% of available hospital beds) were included. In 41 patients (4.9%) pressuire ulcers ranging from grade I to grade IV (according to the Seiler classification) were identified: this group comprised 26 women and 15 men with a mean age of 70.6 years (median 72yrs, range 15–92yrs).
