Aim: The investigation targeted to determine the socio-economic factors, which can influence the hospital undernutrition. Methods: This was a randomised study between January 2004 and November 2004. In the Charité Clinic, in the department of gastroenterology, hepatology, endocrinology in Berlin, Germany the nutritional status of 210 patients has been assessed at the admission using Body Mass Index (BMI), Subjective Global Assessment (SGA), anthropometry, BIA, laboratory parameters and a special questionnaire asking about social and financial questions as well as patients' wishes.
