Zusammenfassung

Rationale: The benefice on outcome of using evidence-based protocols for nutritional support in intensive care unit (ICU) has been demonstrated recently (2004: Barr et al Chest; Heyland et al. Crit Care Med). A protocol, based on actual evidence-based knowledge and guidelines, was implemented in our ICU in 1999. The expected improvement of the quality of the nutritional support, was not observed (unpublished data).
