Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate the possibilities of the surgical palliative solution of esophageal obstruction caused by malignancy, in the cases when it cannot be solved endoscopically. Malignant esophageal obstruction in the advanced stage of the illness presents a complicated challenge. The criterion for success is to enable long term swallowing. Material and Method: 19 patients at the average age of 60.1 years were operated for malignant dysphagia during the period from 2001 to 2004. There were 12 men and 7 women.
