Zusammenfassung

Background. Chronic weight loss independently predicts survival in patients with chronic heart failure (CHF). We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of weight changes in the first 3 months after hospitalization for decompensated CHF. Methods. We prospectively followed 71 CHF patients (age 72±11 years, 56% men, 56% ischemic etiology, 80% NYHA class III/IV, glomerular filtration rate [GFR] 59±25ml/min). Demographic characteristics and laboratory investigations were obtained during hospitalization; weight was always taken on the same scale. Results.
