Lyme borreliosis (LB), caused by Borrelia burgdorferi (Bb) sensu lato is the most common tickborne disease of the northern hemisphere. Major clinical manifestations include Erythema migrans, Neuroborreliosis and Lyme arthritis. Central Europe including Germany is regarded a highly endemic area; however, data on the extent of endemicity and on risk factors are limited.
