Aims: There is a growing evidence that perioperative nutrition (PN) improve postoperative morbidity and mortality, and decrease length of hospital stay (LOS) in malnourished patients. We recently introduced a PN program to assess malnutrition and to reefed patients perioperatively. Aim of the study: To report the impact of a PN concept on postoperative morbidity and mortality, and LOS. Material and method: We prospectively evaluated from 09.04 to 01.05 the nutrition state (NS) for each consecutive patient within 24 hours after admission and 2 to 3 times/week.
