Nutritional care in Czech Republic has long and fruitful history, but sad present time. Since termination of activity of Nutrition research institute the importance of nutritionists decreased to the ordination of the diet. Nutritionists were educated on 2 secondary schools, in the hospitals were employed in catering service without contact with patients. Since Velvet revolution (1989) the number of nutritionists in hospitals decreased again ut to spare money for remuneration. The last data (1999) show 1 nutritionist on 147 patients (in catering service), but only 1/1718 nutritionists worked bedside. At this time…
