Aims: Obesity relapse is supposed to depend on a biological vulnerability to weight regain. In order to understand enhanced metabolic regulation in the postobese state weight regain after weight loss needs to be compared with weight gain after maintenance of a stable body weight. Methods: Healthy young men (BMI 23.7±2.1kg/m2, 25.0±1.8 years) were studied in protocol A after 7d of weight maintenance at their usual body weight (T0_A), 7d of caloric restriction (-60%, CR_A) and 7d of refeeding (+60%, RF_A) and in a subsequent protocol B after 7d weight maintenance (T0_B), 7d overfeeding (+60%, OF_B) and 7d caloric…
