Introduction: Reliable data on the nutritional status (NS) and its effect on quality of life in German nursing homes are scarce. The aim of this first Germany-wide study was, thus, to assess NS and to evaluate its association with activities of daily living (ADL) and physical activity (PA). Methods: A total of 779 residents (≥65 years, no terminal disease) were enrolled in 10 nursing homes throughout Germany from March to November 2006.
