Zusammenfassung

For research questions in the field of infectious diseases and immunology within epidemiologic studies, data about the vaccination status of the participants are essential. Nevertheless evidence about immunity acquired by vaccinations at the population level is lacking [1]. On account of this insufficient data, research questions like the following have not been investigated so far: (a) vaccination coverage, specifically in adult age [2], (b) vaccine response and immunosenescence [3, 4] and (c) possible interactions between vaccinations, infections and chronic diseases [5, 6].
