IntroductionHigh body weight is a challenge for society as a whole, affecting more older people (65+) in times of demographic change. A look to Germany is revealing of such developments: the prevalence of obesity has significantly increased across all age-groups between 2009 and 2018, with the highest prevalence reported for the age group 65–74 years and the greatest increase observed for those over the age of 80 (Steffen et al. 2021).
